Cookie Policy

amessageinablog ("us", "we", or "our") uses cookies on amessageinablog.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the use of cookies.

Our Cookies Policy explains what cookies are, how we use cookies, how third-parties we may partner with may use cookies on the Service, your choices regarding cookies and further information about cookies.

What are cookies

Cookies are small pieces of text sent by your web browser by a website you visit. A cookie file is stored in your web browser and allows the Service or a third-party to recognize you and make your next visit easier and the Service more useful to you.

Cookies can be "persistent" or "session" cookies.

You can read more about Cookies in this Wikipedia article.

We also use tags/pixels. A tag (or often called pixel) is a short snippet of javascript (code) that does something on your website. In the context of marketing/advertising tags and pixels, they are often collecting some information about the visitor to a website and their behavior on the site. This is then sent back to the respective marketing/advertising platform to be processed and reported. Two examples of Tags/Pixels that we use are for Facebook and Google Tag Manager.

How amessageinablog uses cookies

When you use and access the Service, we may place a number of cookies files in your web browser.

We use cookies for the following purposes: to enable certain functions of the Service, to provide analytics, to store your preferences, to enable advertisements delivery, including behavioral advertising.

We use both session and persistent cookies on the Service and we use different types of cookies to run the Service:

What types of cookies do we use?

We use four types of cookies, which we describe in this section.

  • Essential – cookies that are essential to provide you with the services you have requested. For example, these include the cookies that make it possible for you to stay logged into your account and keep your cart between sessions. If you set your browser to block these cookies, then these functions and services will not work for you. In particular, we won’t be able to save your preferences about cookies.
  • Performance - cookies which measure how often you visit our sites and how you use them. We use this information to get a better sense of how our users engage with our website and products and to improve our sites and so that users have a better experience. For example, we collect information about which of our pages are most frequently visited, and by which types of users. We also use third-party cookies to help with performance. For example, the Google Analytics cookie gives us information such as your journey between pages and whether you have downloaded anything (details of how to opt out of it are below).
  • Functionality – cookies that are used to recognize you and remember your preferences or settings when you return to our site so that we can provide you with a more personalized experience. For example, if you are based in the United Kingdom, we will remember this and make sure that the website displays prices in GBP.
  • Advertising – cookies that are used to collect information about your visit to our site, the content you have viewed, the links you have followed and information about your browser, device, and your IP address. We have set out more details on this below. This is required for all web analytics, media campaign measurement (conversion rates, etc.), downstream big data analysis, and ultimately insights about the performance of our marketing and advertising efforts.

How do we use cookies for advertising?

The advertising techniques we use do not collect information such as your name, email address, postal address or phone number. We sometimes use information such as your IP address and browser type. This information allows us to evaluate the success and performance of marketing initiatives including online advertising and email marketing campaigns.

For example, we place a pixel on our web pages that allows Facebook to place cookies on web browsers. When a website visitor who uses Facebook returns to Facebook, Facebook can identify them as part of a group of people who have viewed products, added them to the cart, made a purchase, etc. Facebook can then serve these people with marketing messages from us. The data that can be obtained from a visit to amessageinablog is limited to the URL of the pages that have been visited and, in some cases, the status of any unfinished or completed commercial transactions undertaken with us, together with the limited information a browser might pass on, such as its IP address. If you are a Facebook user you can opt out by following the link below.

Online retargeting is another form of online advertising that allows us to show you retargeting / advertising based on your browsing patterns and interactions with our sites. The use of cookies may mean that when you are on another site, you may be shown advertising based on what you have looked at on our sites.

How to manage advertising cookies

You can manage the use of cookies, including advertising cookies, and disable the sharing of data with partners for advertising purposes by using the steps set out here. In some cases, you can turn off advertising cookies on a cookie-by-cookie basis, and we give the most common examples below.

You can find information about how to opt out of the cookies provided by our key partners here:

It is also possible to stop your browser from accepting cookies altogether by changing your browser’s cookie settings. You can usually find these settings in the “options” or “preferences” menu of your browser. The following links may be helpful, or you can use the “Help” option in your browser. Keep in mind that turning cookes off may impact your user experience on our website.
