River Island Bargains!

If you have read my other posts about fashion and you’ve checked out my YouTube channel’s video ‘Our Favourites’ over on https://www.youtube.com/user/siblingjunction then  it definitely will not come as a big surprise that I love the clothing chain http://www.riverisland.com/. There are such good reasons for this store being my absolute favourite; but just for now, i’ll let you in on a fantastic bargain of a get-up that is perfect for the weather we’re having. It’s so easy to get intimidated by the big brands who charge two million pounds for a T-Shirt, but stores like River Island allow everyone to dress to impress for less; simple. You can find everything that the expensive brand’s offer but at much lower prices.

For today’s style i’ve gone nice and plain again, but to be honest, I prefer that. There really is nothing worse than seeing someone who feels the need to wear everything they own, just let everyone know that they own a lot of clothes, it’s pointless. So something easy, and light, something airy but with pure contemporary style at amazing prices. Here we go…

A nice T-Shirt is an absolute must-have essential for your summer wardrobe, but why go out and spend hundreds of pounds in top brand stores when you can go out to somewhere like River Island and get more for your money.

river teeThis ‘Red Marl’ crew-neck Tee from River Island (of course) features a simple clean-cut design, comfortable slim fit, is a perfect staple for your casual-wear collection and is only £8.00!! EIGHT QUID! If you went in to somewhere like John Lewis they’d charge you over £40.00 for the same thing. Like I said in my last post, look around for bargains, they’re everywhere.

River chinosI have a little bit of an obsession at the moment with chinos and boat shoes, which probably means that in the next few days i’m going to find myself buying some chinos and boat shoes. These chinos are a great colour; River Island call them ‘Stone’ and that’s the perfect name, as they’re are a solid addition (see what I did there?) to your trouser collection. £28.00

river boatsYou may have guessed that these would make an appearance at some point in this post, I mean I did say that I was obsessed with them. You can get away with wearing these boat shoes with so many different combinations, allowing you to really get your money’s worth. Just roll those chinos up slightly and let these boat shoes (NO SOCKS)  and the rest of the outfit do the talking. These boats shoes are another bargain as well, at only £45.00.

I love simplicity when it comes to summer style, and River Island lets anyone, with any price range, get the look they’re after for an absolute steal.

Follow this blog for more of this kind of post, and next time i’ll be posting a smarter outfit, for a casual evening look.

So until next time…

Summer Is Here!

I think we can all agree that Summer is finally with us. We might have a spot of rain here and there, but for the most part it’s actually quite lovely weather. When the sun is out and you’re sitting in the park, or going for a walk, you don’t want to be burdened with heavy jeans and thick jumpers, even some ‘light’ shirts can be a bit much. What you need is something light; something bright; something just right for the warm weather. So for my first official ‘Fashion’ post i’ve put together a little outfit that produces a statement of simple yet modern and  lively summer fashion. It’s also worth noting that just because it is summer, you don’t have to use every colour in the rainbow to stand out.

prlFirst up is Polo Ralph Lauren’s white polo shirt. Now i’ve always loved a good polo, somehow they manage to make you look a little smarter than your bog standard T-Shirt, just by adding a two or three button placket. Strange what two buttons and a collar can do isn’t it. This polo is perfect for summer; it’s simple, clean cut and with it’s iconic pony logo on the chest being the only feature, it stands out nicely.  £70.00

prlsTo go with the polo i’ve chosen a nice pair of chino shorts, again by Polo Ralph Lauren for a nice punch of colour to add to your look. The soft pastel orange- which Ralph Lauren call ‘Elite Orange’ (odd), isn’t too much and will not blind passers-by like some wildly excessive colour tones do. Like the polo, these shorts have a classic clean look. With no stripes or dots or any manic attention-grabbing stars or giraffes, they are a perfect addition for a nice understated summer look. £100.00

tsI  love these boat shoes by Timberland; they call them ‘Earthkeepers’ (not sure why), but the orange tongue and heel go well well with the chinos, and that white base fits nicely with the fresh polo.  £100.00

G A sunny'sAnd to finish off, a slick pair of Giorgio Armani sunglasses. You know, to look cool.  £263.00

I hope you might go out and try this outfit for yourself. Now, obviously you don’t have to go out and get everything from this list, some of it is quite expensive; but i’ve tried to pick things that you can find anywhere, the polo shirt, for example, if you don’t want to spend Ralph Lauren amounts of money, can be found in plain white at places such as Topman for less than £20.00, so look around, you might find some amazing bargains whilst still getting the classic look you want.

Until next time…

Hello WordPress friends!

Now today i’m going to be letting you all in on something that I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time. This blog is going to go through some changes over the coming weeks, and I hope that whoever reads this will understand why. I really wanted to make this blog about everything that I like, things I love; but I realise that-by reading loads of other blogs-  a blog needs to have a focus; it needs that one thing that it can revolve around for a reader to truly get involved and enjoy their reading experience, and for the blogger to have a chance of growing their audience.

This blog will become a fashion blog. It wont necessarily be things that I myself have bought, or things that I’m thinking of buying. It will focus on everything that I like; so i’ll be posting about outfits, or individual items that I feel you guy’s need to know about. I’ll be posting about fashion from all over the price scale, from Topman to Polo Ralph Lauren. From things that I like wearing, to things I wish I could afford! There will be images, and hopefully – When i can figure it all out – links to the relevant sites and products.

Also, you guys might have seen that I have put my Twitter account on the left side-bar of the blog, so feel free to click that follow button and find out whenever I post new blogs via Twitter as well as from here.

The first few posts will of course be focused on Summer, on outfits that work well in warm weather, and then i’ll move forward from season to season.

I apologise to anyone who liked the film reviews and all that jazz, but this is something that i’ve wanted to do for a while now. I might, if I feel it really deserves one, post a review every now and then on a particularly impressive film. I said that i’d be creating a fashion category a while ago but it soon became a little too varied for my liking.

So this is quite a big change for me, and I do hope you guys will get involved and comment. Give me tips and advice to help me along the way. Thank You.

Until next time, you beautiful bunch of bloggers.

My Favourite Books

I’ve wanted to do this blog for a while now and have pondered for an equally long while as to which books would make it in to the final list. It’s always hard telling people what my favourite book is when I get asked, because I have so many books that I love equally that I just can’t answer it. So for this list i’m going to give you my favourites including some that I loved as a child, however I wont be doing any reviews on these books because I never want to spoil someones experience reading and finding out for themselves. Don’t you just hate it when someone tells you what happens in the last chapter of a book that you’ve been desperate to read? I know I do, so I wouldn’t want any spoilers in this post to ruin any for you lovely people. But just know that I wouldn’t put a book in this list unless it was absolutely amazing.

To me books are a form of escape, something that I can dive in to to escape my world. A book isn’t something that is tied down by rules or restrictions, it is pure freedom, only restricted by a persons imagination and when you begin your journey alongside the characters you create your own vision as to what you believe the world should look like and also what the people who inhabit said world should be like; and those people stick with you forever. Have you ever read a Harry Potter book and then watched the films and thought “My Harry is still better”, or “Ron’s not supposed to looks like that.” I do, and even after watching the film you can go back to the book and your Harry and Ron are still perfectly pictured in your imagination.

There’s a beauty about reading a good book with a cup of tea that I can’t even begin to explain, so in this blog I have picked my favourites so as to inspire you-if you don’t read enough- to go out, get something from this list, make a nice cuppa and curl up on the sofa for a couple of hours creating a world of your own through the words of another.

1. Captain Corelli’s Mandolin –  Louis de Bernières

2. Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte

3. Wide Sargasso Sea (Prequel to Jane Eyre)

4. The Odyssey – Homer

5. Catcher in The Rye – J. D. Salinger

6. Things Fall Apart – Chinua Achebe

7. The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald

8. Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde –  Robert Louis Stevenson

9. Slaughterhouse 5 – Kurt Vonnegut

10. Gullivers Travels – Jonathan Swift

I do hope that you go out and get one of these absolutely cracking books by some of the worlds greatest authors. I might do another one of these because there are just too many to fit in one blog without it being more like a 15,000 word dissertation.

Until next time…
